Subject: KNIT: ARAN # 13...Pithy directions 1
In a fit of brilliance, our Man from Aran (Leigh.....who else?) suggested
I present the Aran to you in some sort of easily-readable order. My
attempt at the pattern follows.
Anyknitter's Revolving Aran Network
Knitlist Raglan Celtic Plait Aran worked in-the-round
Circumference (or 2 x inches across chest at underarm)... 56"
Length of Sweater from Shoulder To Hem... 30"
Depth of armhole... 10"
Sleeve length... 17" (but I am knitting to 16" because I am anticipating
some stretch)
Side Length or Side Seam (hah...there are no seams but let's pretend!)...
[30-10=20" but I am anticipating some stretch again, so ]... 19"
Width of Neck... 8 1/2"
Depth of Neck... 2 1/2"
Gauge: 4 1/2 sts=1" in stockinette stitch on # 7 needles
Needles: 12" circular: # 5
16" circular # 5 and # 7
32" circular # 5 and # 7
Yarn: 1800-2000 yards (9-10.....4-oz skeins at 200 yards each) bulky
weight wool
Notions: Graph Paper

Sleeves:
With 12" # 5 needles, cast on 50 sts, join, place marker, and work in
Twisted Rib:
Round 1: *K1 in the back loop, P1* , repeat directions between * *around.
Work for 3". Work one round in purl, increasing 10 sts evenly by: *p 5,
inc 1* repeat around.
With 16" #7 needle, Start Cable and Double Seed Stitch (DSS) pattern as
noted in chart below, increasing 1 stitch before and after the markers
every 6th and 12th round of pattern until you have 84 sts. Work evenly in
pattern until sleeve measures 16". Slip sts onto 16" # 5 needle and put
aside. Make 2nd sleeve.

beats proofreading till I want to spray paint the computer monitor...with
