CSC430: Personal presentations
Your personal presentation will consist of analysis, evaluation, and suggestions for improvement to a game of your choice. Pick a game (can be digital or a board one) and discuss:
- its game design atoms
- its core mechanic(s) and/or dynamic(s)
- its genre, aesthetics, and the kinds of players interested in playing it
- its gameplay and the meaningful choices available to the player
- where the design can be improved in your opinion (you may talk about any of the design areas we identified -- world, level, etc.)
Start your presentation with a brief introduction to the game, together with either a demonstration of the gameplay or screenshots. You will have approximately 15 minutes for your presentation (plus five minutes for questions). It is a good idea to pick a game that is simultaneously rich and is quite good already, because if you pick a terrible one you'll run out of time criticizing it, while if you pick a small one you won't have too many interesting things to talk about.
