This certificate in Biomedical Data Analysis proposes to introduce learners to methods of data analysis applied to biomedical domains.
The instructional material included in this certificate is available as a set of Open Educational Resources (OERs)freely for use, improvement, and sharing.
WHEN
The certificate, which comprises three courses, each lasting 6 weeks, is currently available on-demand.
One of the courses, Big Data, Genes and Medicine is offered by Coursera and a new session opens every other week.
We plan to open a new session for the certificate in the Spring of 2018.
WHO
This course is best for learners who want to conduct they own studies, collect data, and analyze them in healthcare or biological environments.
WHERE
All courses are taught online combining Coursera learning environment and OpenEducation learning environment.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this certificate, learners will be able to:
1) design a biomedical study and collect data (Biomedical Research Methods course).
2) analyze data from a biomedical study with machine learning methods (Big Data, Genes, and Medicine course).
3) analyze data from a biomedical study with statistical methods (Applied Statistics course).
This certificate has been designed as a sequence of three courses to be offered online over three trimesters.
COST
Because we received an Innovative Instructional Technology Grant grant from the State University of New York (SUNY)in 2016-17, we are able to offer this specialization for free. However learners who wish to receive an award of completion at the end will be required to pay a fee of $49 (Coursera course cost).
