I am currently a member of two research projects on campus, along with my honors thesis research and some continuing class work. Summaries if this work are below.
Tabcon is a teaching and learning aid for concurrent programming using the Tablet PC lead by Lin Qiu. The project is funded by Microsoft External Research and is nearing its first beta release. Check out the project web page here.
This project is lead by Doug Lea with funding from Sun, Google, IBM, and some other companies. We are building applications using the new Java 7 Fork/Join framework to show how easy it is to create massivly parallel applications. Right now I am working on creating parallel versions of the FITS image aritmetic tools in the IRAF astrophysics package. For more details visit the project page here.
As a member of the honors program I am required to do a thesis project. The topic I have semeted is a metadata driven file store using self organizing maps as a knowledge representation scheme. Work is still early on this project, but the project web page gives more details. Visit it here.
Started as a class project for web services AudioMappr! is a mapping application showing users listening habits by country throughoutthe world. We have released our first version of the project here but there will be continued updates often!
