Subject: KNIT: A.R.A.N. #21- fixing mistakes in the row below

Good morning all.

This post was sent last week.....and I never saw it on the list in digest
form. If I missed it, I apologize for resending.

Katie hollered for help, and it occured to me that someone else may
benefit from the explanation below, so I am sending it off to you all.

It's been nice chatting with those of you who are keeping up with this
project.

A NEAT WAY TO FIX A CABLE WITH A MISTAKE IN THE ROWS BELOW:

Materials: Double pointed needles, rubber end stoppers, paper and pencil,
cable chart, crochet hook.

Get some of those rubber end stoppers...take the stitches of the cable OFF
your circular needle, and put those rubber stoppers on both ends so you
don't lose the rest of the stitches (yikes...)

Get 2 double pointed needles about the size you need. Figure out what row
you are currently working on, and rip out a row at a time of the cable
only, while counting outloud. Rip out and then write down the row that
has the mistake, and put those "live stitches" on a double pointed needle.
Carefully slide them to the right point of the needle, fish around for the
yarn ladder that corresponds with the next row to be knit, take the other
double pointed needle, and work across the stitches of the cable. When you
are done with those stitches, take the empty double pointed needle and
even up the tension. Mark off the row you just did. Slide all the
stitches of the cable to the right end of the needle, and proceed with the
next row.

Good luck...be patient and take the phone off the hook.
