using MS-PowerPoint'2002.
Develop a Presentation
for a topic in your book.
Choose a chapter of your
textbook for the course (Computer Confluence).
Based on the material in that chapter and, if you wish, supplemental
material on that chapter at the book's web site www.computerconfluence.com prepare a

Ø
The content coverage for the chapter although not
necessarily comprehensive should not be limited to just a few pages in the
chapter.
Ø
There should be a message, a theme, and an
overall purpose to the presentation. A
presentation with scattered ideas and just a bunch of disjointed slides is not
acceptable here.
Ø
Use of graphics from the book, off of the website
for the book, or anywhere else for that matter to better communicate the ideas
from the chapter and enhance the presentation will be important.
Ø
Use of presentation features in PowerPoint
controlling the delivery of the information as well as use of animation
features will be important.
Ø
Turn in a floppy disk with your
presentation on it. Be sure to write
your name on the disk.
Publish
the Presentation on the web (5 Points Extra Credit)
Save your presentation as HTML
and make it available off of your webpage for the course.
1.
Choose Save
as web page from the File pull-down menu. This should result in an html
file as well as a folder named the same as the presentation file. Make sure bothe the html file and the folder
are saved on your floppy.
2.
Use WS-FTP to transfer the html file and its
corresponding folder to your Rocky account.
Be sure that you are in your public-html
directory in your Rocky account before commencing the file transfer.
3.
Login to Rocky via telnet. Get into your
public-html directory, then use the chmod command to set the protection
on the presentation’s html file, its folder, and all of the
folder’s content as shown in class.
4.
Create a link to the presentation in your
101.html page.
5.
Write a note on your disk that indicates the
presentation is published on the web.
